Senate passes food safety bill – will anything happen?

The US Senate passed landmark food safety legislation yesterday and planned to work with the US House of Representatives to get a bill that President Obama can sign. Looks like the Senate Democrats may have botched some of the procedural issues that might ultimately render the passage by the Senate moot. For those traveling abroad, I strongly recommend not encountering a kidney stone en route. I was impressed with the medical care in rural Switzerland, though.

Looks like another thing that environmentally-conscious consumers need to be aware of, according to a study by the University of Arizona and Loma Linda University:

“Reusable grocery bags can be a breeding ground for dangerous food-borne bacteria and pose a serious risk to public health, according to a joint food-safety research report issued today by the University of Arizona and Loma Linda University in California.”
